Original post from February 5, 2020: February 2020 has plenty of interesting new features and events in store for fans of Pokémon GO. Among them is the legendary Pokémon Boreos, which celebrates its debut as a Tier 5 Raid Boss. Trainers can encounter the flying Pokémon in corresponding Raid battles from February 04, 2020 to February 25, 2020.

So that you are optimally prepared for the battle against Boreos and can catch the Pokémon yourself, we have summarized everything you need to know about the Raid against the legendary Pokémon based on an article from Pokemongohub.

Boreos as Tier 5 Raid Boss – General Info, Stats and Attacks

For the time being, Boreos will only appear in the incarnation variant in Tier 5 raids in Pokémon GO. You can defeat both variants under ideal conditions with a team of three trainers, but you are on the safe side with three to five competitors. The incarnation version of Boreos has the following stats:

  • Raid boss CP: 46,044 points
  • Fang CP: at level 20 = 1,828 to 1,911 points, at level 25 with weather boost = 2.285 to 2.389 points
  • Attack: 266 points
  • Defense: 164 points
  • Stamina: 188 points

Because Boreos is a flying Pokémon, it benefits from windy weather. It is sensitive to attacks of the type ice, electric and stone. Boreos has the following attacks that make it strong against Beetle, Battle, and Plant-type Pokémon:

  • Bite (Unlight, normal attack)
  • Air Cut (Flight, normal attack)
  • Shrubber (Plant, Charge Attack)
  • Hyper Beam (Normal, Charge Attack)
  • Sinister Aura (Unlight, Charge Attack)
  • Gale (Flight, Charge Attack)

Shrubber is the only one of these attacks that deals potentially devastating damage, given the right counters. Hyper Beam can also make your Pokémon sweat, though not as much as Shrubber. If you want to maximize your chances in battle, hope for a fight in which Boreos doesn’t use these two attacks, or uses them very rarely.

Boreos as Tier 5 Raid Boss – The Best Counters

  • To be able to face Boreos in battle optimally prepared, we recommend you the following counter Pokémon:
  • Rameidon (Rock Type) with Catapult (Rock) and Stone Hail (Rock).
  • Raikou (Electro Type) with Thunder Shock (Electro) and Surge (Electro)
  • Magnezone (type electro) with spark jump (electro) and surge (electro)
  • Zapdros (type Elektro) with thunder shock (Elektro) and thunder lightning (Elektro)
  • Elevoltek (type electro) with Thunder Shock (electro) and Surge (electro)
  • Terrakium (type Rock) with Catapult (Rock) and Stone Hail (Rock)
  • Mamutel (type ice) with powder snow (ice) and avalanche (ice)
  • Despotar (type rock/unlight) with Catapult (rock) and Stone Edge (rock)
  • Glaziola (type ice) with ice ode (ice) and avalanche (ice)
  • Snibunna (type unlight/ice) with ice shard (ice) and avalanche (ice)
  • Luxtra (type Electric) with Spark Jump (Electric) and Surge (Electric)

The best way to fight Boreos is to use a combination of several strong Electric Pokémon. Ground and Ice Pokémon are also suitable, but they are sensitive to Boreos’ Strauchler attack. So use them with caution. We wish you good luck in the raid against Boreos!

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
