To coincide with the Illuminating Legends X event, the new Mega Pokémon Mega-Altaria will make its debut in Pokémon Go on May 15, 2021. Why is that fitting? Well, because the event itself revolves around Dragon and Fairy Pokémon, and when Altaria (Dragon/Flight) transforms into Mega-Altaria, it has Dragon and Fairy types.
Accordingly, of course, meaningful counters change in the fight against Mega-Altaria – that is, compared to a normal Altaria. So that you can add the Mega Evolution to your “collection”, we have a counter guide to Mega Altaria for you. We wish you a lot of fun in the fight! Once again, however, we have left out Crypto Pokémon.
The best counters for Mega-Altaria
As mentioned before, Mega-Altaria has Dragon and Fairy types, and this ensures that it takes more damage from attacks of Ice, Dragon, Fairy, Steel, and Poison types. However, since both types exploit an effective weakness against dragons, you should refrain from putting dragons in your team. Rather go for attackers of the types and attacks Steel and Poison. Especially in cloudy weather Poison attackers can score points, because they are boosted by the weather – but so is Mega-Altaria, at least the Fairy attacks.
Now, Mega-Altaria can only have one fairy charge attack, Spell Glow, so the weather doesn’t matter as much in that regard. With a team of three trainers, you should be able to successfully take down Mega-Altaria. If you want to be on the safe side, take at least a fourth player with you.
The following Pokémon are some of the best counters to Mega-Altaria in Pokémon Go. If you do want to take Crypto-Mon with you, then go for Crypto-Metagross and Crypto-Mamutel.

Catch Mega Altaria
As usual with defeated Mega Pokémon, you will not catch Mega Altaria after a victory, but a normal Altaria. If you have successfully completed the battle against Mega-Altaria, the freestyle follows after the duty and you have the chance to banish the pocket monster into your Pokéball. Then Altaria has 1,145 CP at level 20 with 100% IV values. If Altaria is boosted to level 25 in cloudy or windy weather, it will have 1,432 CP at perfect 100% IV values. Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.
Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights
Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.
Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.
