Ghostbusters Day in Pokémon GO: On November 3, the purple glass cannon Gengar will occupy all Raids from 11 am to 2 pm.

With the current raid rotation of October 24, Gengar has also returned to Pokémon GO’s arenas. But that was apparently not enough for Niantic’s app makers, because on November 3, the game maker is calling for another Raid challenge – this time with the purple glass cannon. By default, the purple pocket monster enters the ring as a Tier 3 boss, but it will likely receive an upgrade to Tier 4 during Saturday’s Raid Challenge. In terms of Raid practice, this means that even high-level trainers will no longer be able to send Gengar solo onto the arena boards. Pokémon GO Hub’s pocket monster experts recommend players level 30 and above tackle the boss in threes, but they also think a duo raid is possible with weather and friendship bonuses. By far the best counter Pokémon against the purple monster is Mewtu, but even the former EX Raid boss quickly reaches its limits against a Gengar with Spookball: Like its Psycho counterparts Psiana or Simsala, Mewtu also takes very effective damage from Gengar’s Spirit attacks. The best choice here is Groudon or Despotar. On the other hand, if the raid boss has Focus Strike, you should avoid Despotar, which has a double weakness to combat attacks.

• At level 20 and without weather boosting, a captured Gengar has 1,420 to 1,496 WP,
• with weather boost and level 25 it has 1,776 to 1,870 WP.
