PoGO – Pokémon GO: The benefits of Purified Pokémon

In our short guide, we’ll show you the benefits of redeeming Crypto Pokémon and when you might want to hold off on redeeming to get the perfect stats out of your Crypto Pokémon.

Since last night (7/22), Team Rocket and their Crypto Pokémon have been haunting Pokéstops in Pokémon Go for up to 30 minutes. Trainers can recognize Team Rocket’s assaults by the stop’s darker and vibrating photobooths. Anyone who dials the Pokéstop will be confronted by Team Rocket. Once you’ve defeated the villain, it leaves behind its Crypto Pokémon, which you can redeem. Redeeming these Pokémon gives your Mon some advantages over normal Pokémon.

Advantages of Redeemed Pokémon

After redeeming, the Pokémon’s level is increased (up to level 25).
After Redeeming, stats in each area (Attack, Health, Defense) increase by 2 points each. So a 13/13/13 Crypto Pokémon becomes a 15/15/15 Redeemed Pokémon.
Redeemed Pokémon gain a new attack called Return (a 3-bar Normal attack), which mainly benefits defenders like Relaxo or Chanaeira.
Redeemed Pokémon consume ten percent less candy when powering up and evolving.
Redeemed Pokémon use 20 percent less dust when powering up.
Dust costs for second attacks are also reduced.

UPDATE: Niantic has determined that trading Crypto Pokémon would upset the balance of the game. Henceforth, you can trade Redeemed Pokémon, but Crypto Pokémon cannot be traded.

Crypto + Lucky = Perfect Stats

Lucky Pokémon always have stats of at least 12/12/12 (the maximum is 15/15/15). Since Crypto Pokémon’s stats increase by two points in all three areas, a Lucky exchange of a Crypto Pokémon with near-perfect stats is guaranteed. So you should consider redeeming Crypto Pokémon just yet and saving them for a guaranteed Lucky Trade with a friend. Guaranteed Lucky Trades are triggered every so often by sending and opening gifts with your Best Friends.

Pokémon GO

Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.

Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights

Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.

Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.

The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people.
