BACKGROUND

Born in the affluent Central District of Hong Kong, Siu became a bodyguard immediately after graduating from high school. After gaining explosive strength and short-range combat skills through private tutoring, she joined an elite security agency to gain universal personal protection skills. She traveled to Tel Aviv, Israel, where she trained and served in the Caracal Battalion for two years. During this time, she acquired expertise in firearms and driving in combat conditions. Upon returning to Hong Kong, she joined the police force and then the elite Flying Tigers SDU. She owes her codename Ying (firefly) to her joint training with the SAS and her creative use of flashbangs. Siu is regularly requested due to her experience as a bodyguard and with high-risk operations. For operations in densely populated Hong Kong, she is one of the best qualified special forces.
PSYCHOLOGICAL REPORT
Commanders often mistake Specialist Siu “Ying” Mei Lin for conventionalism. It plans strategically conservative here and there, but also takes a new course surprisingly quickly. The tactical driving maneuvers she is capable of underscore this perfectly. In a split second, it calculates multiple customizable routes. That’s really impressive.
Although she is serious and, I’ve noticed, quite fastidious, I understand why clients and teammates feel safe and comfortable around her. She has an demeanor made to calm people down. At the same time, it constantly scans the environment for threats. I wondered if the fussiness stemmed from thought processes instilled in her during her training, or if she always had this trait. To which she replied: “Both and.”
Her childhood was sheltered but, as she notes, “boring.” Her mother is a Hong Kong government official. She grew up surrounded by serious adults discussing serious things. From an early age, around the age of eleven, Siu escaped these “boring talks” to roam the city. Her fondest memories are of her rides on the subway, where she got off at random stops. She also revealed to me that she still does this when she travels in her spare time. In her opinion, the best way to get to know a city is to let yourself be surprised by it.
It is a pity that one looks in vain for this adventurous spirit in her record. After our conversation, it’s clear that Siu has a boundless adventurous spirit and a fearless enthusiasm for new experiences. She looks forward to joint operations fearlessly and with joy and is often one of the first volunteers.
Because her career and her role as law enforcement mean everything to her, she is extremely obliging… which is why her superiors sometimes have to order her to take time off. Their seriousness can be misinterpreted. I consider her a person who always calculates the risk. She knows how to harass and confuse opponents. The team appreciates her, but she expects clear strategic leadership and I would caution commanders not to underestimate her.
