SIEGE TANK DESCRIPTION

The Crucio is the League’s successor to the hugely successful but outdated Arclite Siege Tank. The Arclite was renowned within the Confederacy for its devastating firepower and unwavering position and advance tactics. Originally conceived as a defensive cannon and last line of defense, the Siege Tank adopted a two-stage configuration in its final design: a mobile attack mode and a siege mode that utilizes the deployed tank’s shock cannon. The exceptional flexibility of a main battle tank, able to advance and then position itself as heavy artillery, was a huge success and the design was widely copied.

While extremely effective in its artillery role, the Arclite had some weaknesses as a main battle tank. It was an excellent defensive unit, but required extensive support to position itself up front in offensive engagements. The “dead zone” of a deployed siege tank battery could be exploited if the enemy managed the difficult task of getting close enough. When successful, this tactic usually resulted in the destruction of the Arclites – even in Assault mode, the machines were underarmored and lacked the firepower to repel a targeted attack at close range.

The Crucio was designed to offer increased durability through an enlarged turret and reinforced external armor. The new turret type also features improved armament for Assault mode, resulting in increased Crucio autonomy on the open battlefield. The Crucio’s operational cost has been increased compared to the older Arclite, but the increased versatility of the powerful new Siege Tank more than makes up for the additional expense.

TERRAN

General Information

The Terrans can neither boast impressive technologies nor unbeatable masses, they seem to be the least dangerous race in the Starcraft universe. However, this is also their strength, often underestimated by the enemy, they can attack from ambush and thus take advantage of the surprise effect. The Terran forces are often formed from prisoners who want to shorten their sentence. These fighters, assigned to the infantry, are often poorly trained, but have an iron will to fight. Smaller war machines, such as the infamous tanks, are often used to support the foot troops.

The Terrans’ greatest enemy seems to be the Terrans themselves: Shattered by internal conflicts and wars, the Terrans have never been able to form a cohesive army to reach their full potential.
