Virgil van Dijk’s name has gone down in FIFA history forever as the Liverpool FC defender became the first defender to earn a 99-point FUT card.
The unprecedented feat was achieved through the defender ‘s special ‘ FIFA Team of the Year Card ‘. The Liverpool star and the rest of the 2019 Team of the Year (TOTY) members received limited edition cards to commemorate the occasion. And while the lowest-rated players in the group – Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong and van Dijk’s teammate Andrew Robertson – are still rated at 94 points, the Dutchman has quite a bit more to offer himself.
Van Dijk is one of only two players in the squad to be rated 99. The other – surprise, surprise – is Lionel Messi. The defender’s stats are a feast for the eyes, as even his shooting, rated at 80 points, rivals many attackers in the game. With 88 Pace, 90 Dribbling, 92 Passing, 98 Physics and 99 Defense, there’s little you can do against this giant – so good luck trying!
Even more notable is the fact that Virgil van Dijk is the first defender in FIFA series history to earn a 99 point FUT card.
