With the hotfix for Black Lotus that was recently implemented on the WoW Classic live servers, the developers listened to the community feedback and thus spoiled the day, especially for the bot users. Finally you can stumble over a lotus while playing regular games.
You’ve probably noticed: a few days ago, the Blizzard developers played a hotfix on the WoW Classic live server , which noticeably changed the spawn properties of the rare black lotus plant . Lotus spawn rates have been increased, and there are now more places where a lotus can grow in the appropriate areas.
The new spawn properties fit much better with the populations of the classic servers, which are often significantly larger than the populations of the vanilla realms at the time. At the same time, it is now much more difficult for bot users and the so-called “Black Lotus Mafia” to farm the valuable herb around the clock and thus ultimately dominate the market and determine the price development.
On my server Razorfen, the changes have already had a positive effect: The prices for Black Lotus have fallen in the auction house, and it is now much easier to farm Black Lotus for personal use or for sale. Since the change I’ve bagged a Lotus five times, number 6 was snatched from under my nose. That’s already more Lotus than I’ve seen in the wild in all that time. And also in my guild there are much more success reports on the lotus farm front.
Another change I missed from the hotfix: Dead characters can now only see a Black Lotus on the minimap or in the world if they have Herbology at 300. With this, the developers are responding to the countless level 1 characters who have long been in the four high-level areas Burning Steppes, Silithus, Winterspring and Eastern Plaguelands at the various spawn points of Black Lotus to look for the plants there. Some WoW (buy now) -Players like WillE had documented in videos how widespread this problem was on many classic servers.
And indeed: if you search for level 1 characters that are in the zones mentioned above on the affected servers today, you will not get any results. The measure is having an effect (source: WillE ). How long? Well, of course, the bot users could now level up their level 1 characters and max out their Herbalism, then park them again next to the potential lotus spawn locations. However, due to the now significantly larger number of spawn points and the shorter respawn duration, this seems to me to be a lot of effort for a strategy that will probably ultimately bring less profit than was the case before the hotfix.
And since the prices for Black Lotus have not fallen so low that you can now throw in the flasks that can be produced with the lotus at every opportunity (keyword “PvP”), Blizzard’s change has been a thumbs up from me so far.
Now the developers only have to take care of the other bots , which farm some of the dungeons like Stratholme or Dire Maul around the clock, and at the same time ensure that players are no longer banned for no reason .

Getting Started
All players with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time on their accounts have access toWoW Classic at no additional cost.
- Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft from the menu.
- Select World of Warcraft Classic from the Version menu. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second Account drop-down list. In this column, select the active account you want to play with.
- Click the Install button. The progress bar will tell you when your game is ready to play.
- Click the Play button when the installation is complete.
You will need to select the realm you want to play on from several different realm types. Make sure you choose the same realm as your friends – in World of Warcraft Classic, you can only group with characters that are on the same realm as you!
