Lack of understanding makes life in instances unnecessarily difficult. To prevent that, here are the basic rules: When the raid leader talks about focus fire, he is not giving a fire speech to a well-known German news magazine. Instead, he means that all squad members should attack a target he specifies as far as possible. Anyone who shoots at anything other than the given target quickly becomes the group’s idiot. Particularly “popular” are the fellow soldiers who pick up the sheep. This refers to opponents who have been turned into a sheep by a wizard. When one or more party members write or say guttural sounds like oom in chat, it has nothing to do with typos or language practice. This abbreviation stands for “out of mana”: the opponent’s mana pool is empty. If you mess with fresh monsters while your colleagues are still regenerating, you will not only draw the displeasure of your opponents, but also that of your own party. This usually happens by an unintentional, but in rare cases also by an intentional pull. Experienced WoW players understand this as attracting one or more opponents.
No desire for a mob
This also leads us to aggro management, the skillful handling of threats. When you damage an enemy, you automatically draw attention to yourself, which isn’t always good for your health. Most of the threat should come from the tank of the group. Often Warriors, Druid Bears, Death Knights, or Paladins will step into this role because they can take a lot of hits. Other classes, however, are better suited for crowd control (“cc”), cleverly keeping individual enemies at bay with fear, enchantment, or tether effects while taking care of the more dangerous opponents. If the tank can’t get the mob’s aggro away from the healer fast enough, keeping him alive with his healing spells, fatalities quickly occur. To avoid this, tanks have a whole arsenal of abilities, such as taunting: The tank insults (taunts) a mob in the worst possible way, which in response wants to deform its face.
By the way, mobs are not used to describe enemies controlled by players. Adds, on the other hand, are mobs that are additionally drawn into the fight, usually by noobishly hopping around. But what is a noob again? Some use it to refer to all moderately skilled WoW players, while others use it to refer to newcomers who attract attention through unconventional actions. Getting Started
All players with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time on their accounts have access toWoW Classic at no additional cost.
- Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft from the menu.
- Select World of Warcraft Classic from the Version menu. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second Account drop-down list. In this column, select the active account you want to play with.
- Click the Install button. The progress bar will tell you when your game is ready to play.
- Click the Play button when the installation is complete.
You will need to select the realm you want to play on from several different realm types. Make sure you choose the same realm as your friends – in World of Warcraft Classic, you can only group with characters that are on the same realm as you!
