League of Legends is sometimes full of surprises. Last night we witnessed the incredible reveal of Lillia, the new LoL Champion, coming to Summoner’s Rift much sooner than expected. Now we have the LoL patch notes for 10.14 to discuss! You know the topics, so let’s get started, okay?
Riot Games, we love surprises! Last night, the game developer used Twitter to reveal Lillia – The Shy Blossom, with the prancing deer gaining a lot of fans pretty quickly. If you need a complete overview of Lillia and her abilities, you’ve come to the right place.
For Patch 10.14, we expect Conqueror Nautilus, Arcanist Zoe, Arcanist Zoe Prestige Edition, Arcanist Shaco, and Arcanist Kog’Maw to be available in stores on July 9, 2020. Infernal Karthus, Infernal Vel’Koz, and Infernal Kennen will arrive in the Rift on July 16, 2020.
With patch 10.14 several champions have been buffed including:
- Alistar
- Carthus
- Kha’Zix
- Riven
- Sejuani
- Zed
Let’s talk about some notable buffs.
“We want to give Death Singer more deaths by strengthening him in his two main roles. We’re giving Jungle Karthus a little more strength when fighting monsters and enemy champions so he doesn’t have to focus too much on farming.”
Karthus Jungle took a pretty significant hit with a 15% damage reduction to monsters, keeping this undead singer from a career as a full-time farmer. Increasing his health from 528 to 550 and his movement speed from 325 to 335 puts him right where he belongs. To the mid-lane. His E, Annihilation, has been tweaked as the “icing on the cake” by Riot Games.
E – Annihilation (Updated)
- Mana restoration: ALWAYS
- AoE Damage Tick Rate: Deals damage 4 times per second (damage and cost per second remain unchanged). Disabling Annihilation deals damage equal to 1 tick.
“We have been rather cautious regarding Sejuani and Bristle, as they have a tendency to usurp the pro game. While we still don’t want to loosen the reins too much, we are thawing them out a bit by increasing their damage.”
Sejuani is getting some attention, though we wonder if these changes will push her up the Jungle rankings significantly for Patch 10.14. Especially in high-level play. Her E, Permafrost, gets a bump from 40/90/140/190/240 to 55/105/155/205/255, and Frost’s cooldown has been reduced to 8 seconds at all skill levels, raising questions about how strong her stun will be for Patch 10.14.
“Since Riven’s playstyle doesn’t fit the current meta, her play in general suffers and she seems a bit left out. We’re bringing her back by improving Riven’s damage-oriented variants (combos with Essence Raider, Youmu’s Spirit Blade, and Bloodthirster) rather than the more tanky ones of the current meta (as with Black Axe and Dance of Death).”
Riven, a name we haven’t heard in a while. Riven has been suffering in the top lane for too long, so Riot Games has upgraded her passive Rune Blade to deal more bonus damage. The increase is pretty drastic. Originally it was 25-50% of total attack damage, now it’s been bumped up to 30-60% of total attack damage, with critical hits also counting towards the damage dealt.
This change should allow Riven to stand on her own two feet in the top lane without being flung into the air by an Ornn. We welcome the new Riven fans and look forward to seeing a more diverse selection of champions up there alongside the familiar tanks.
“Since the game landscape has changed drastically since – Season 3, we are reversing the weakening of his W from Patch 3.13 and improving his accessibility. This will make his combos feel smoother and stronger, and provide new opportunities for shuriken attacks.”
You’ve probably seen it already, but we saved the best change for last. Zed’s W, Living Shadow, will be back to how it was in patch 3.13! His projectile speed has been dramatically increased from 1750 to 2500. On top of that, the cooldown has been reduced from 22/20/18/16/14 seconds to 20/18.5/17/15.5/14 seconds.

The nerfs
Riot Games has generated some champions for patch 10.14. Most of them you have surely already expected.
- Ezreal
- Pyke
- Trundle
- Varus
- Volibear
- Wukong
In our last patch note discussion, we told you that Wukong needs more than a few additional changes to his kit, as he is still far too powerful. The changes to his R, Whirlwind, have reduced his knockup duration from 0.75 seconds to 0.6 seconds.
These changes are still not enough and we expect the monkey to change again in patch 10.15. His overall condition with this super flexible kit is just too powerful. If you want to play a great champion on the top lane right now, Wukong is the way to go. The LoL community wasn’t exactly happy with such a small nerf. We’ll have to see how this change affects his dominance from Bronze to LEC.
Volibear loses a lot of attack speed with patch 10.14. From 0.66 to 0.625, and his W, Rend, was also generated. Healing from wounded Minions has now been extended to Jungle Monsters. Again, it is now reduced by 50%. These adjustments were much needed and should throttle Volibear’s Jungle-Clear a bit in the early game.
Oh Pyke-mid, how we loved you. Pyke and his series of changes have finally pulled him away from Mid Lane. These changes are extensive and of course we will link the full patch notes at the end of the article. Overall, Pyke on Mid Lane caused a significant imbalance in the game, so Riot Games has made some significant changes to bring the slippery assassin back into the support role. What do you think of these Pyke changes?
Last on our list is Ezreal, who gets an increase in the cooldown to his E, Arcane Leap, from 25/22/19/16/13 seconds to 28/25/22/19/16 seconds. This causes the researcher to need one more Q in kiting until he can jump again. We understand Riot Games’ logic, but we strongly believe that Ezreal needs more than just an e-nerf. Right now, he’s a very strong pick in Bot Lane, followed closely by Kalista.
While these adjustments make Ezreal more vulnerable, they don’t change his damage output. We would like to see more changes made to him in Patch 10.15, especially in regards to his overall DPS.

Conclusion
