Riot Games has released a new Valorant update. Among other things, Valorant Patch 1.03 makes changes to the Guardian and brings changes to the Spike Assault mode. We have an overview of the Valorant patch notes 1.03.
Valorant Patch 1.03 is live. After the last update of the multiplayer shooter has screwed heavily on the balancing, developer Riot Games is taking it a bit easier this time. At least the Guardian gets a huge adjustment, while the spike assault mode gets some new features. Here are the complete Valorant patch notes 1.03.
Valorant Weapons Update for the Guardian
The Guardian assault rifle was not one of the most popular Valorant weapons so far. As Riot Games admits in the patch notes themselves, it simply wasn’t powerful enough for the price it commanded.
Valorant Patch 1.03 lowers the Guardian’s price, but also its rate of fire, while increasing its penetrating power. Riot Games writes about this:
“We hope these changes reinforce the Guardian’s identity as a versatile, long-range weapon, with its high penetrating power and lower price hopefully establishing it as a good alternative to the assault rifle category of the arsenal.”
The Guardian with Patch 1.03:
- The weapon now costs 2500 credits (previously 2700).
- The rate of fire is now 4.75 (previously 6.5)
- Penetration is now Heavy (previously Medium)
- Input queue updated to 0.1175 (previously 0.083)
Valorant Map Updates
At the same time, Valorant Patch 1.03 makes minor changes to the maps. On Haven, a bug was fixed that prevented the spike from being picked up at a certain point after it was dropped.
On all maps, points where you could clip through the level were optimized. Also reworked points where Valorant Agent Sova’s sensor arrows could be shot through walls.
New sphere for spike assault mode
With the final Valorant release, Riot Games introduced the new Spike Assault mode. We already told you what it’s about in our guide. Update 1.03 adds a new bullet type to the popular game mode:
- Twin Hunter: if you collect the orb, two wolves will appear to track down the next two enemies.
The wolves don’t change their targets once they appear. They speed up when they spot an enemy and sprint towards them when they are close enough. When hit, the enemy is slowed for 4 seconds and their vision is limited. Wolves have 150 LP and can be injured. They disappear after 15 seconds or if their target is killed.
In addition, on the Split map, the center sphere on the defender’s side has been moved to the center platform to reduce the defender advantage somewhat.
Valorant Patch 1.03: General Improvements
The new Valorant Update 1.03 also makes some improvements to the general gameplay. These include, for example:
- In unrated mode, 80% of the votes are now enough to give up.
- In scored mode, 100% of the votes are still required.
- You can now start a surrender vote as early as round 5 (previously round 8).
- Added a new button in the game menu to start a surrender vote.
- Fixed several minor graphics bugs on Intel graphics cards.
Minor render improvements for modern hardware. - Fixed several graphics errors that could occur if you reconnected to the game while your character was dead.
- Fixed a bug that caused the barrier phase announcement to be displayed to observers in normal games.
- Fixed various user interface issues in the Observer scoreboard.

What is Valorant?
Valorant initially appears to be a cross between CS:Go and Overwatch . A competitive shooter where two small teams compete against each other.
Your team is either ready to attack or defend, with the attackers placing a “stinger” (essentially a bomb) that the other team must then defuse or preferably prevent you from placing at all.
The attacking team can win by either eliminating the defenders or placing the stinger and then protecting it from defusing until the timer runs out. The defenders can similarly win by destroying the attackers before they have a chance to plant their stinger, or disarming the stinger after it has been planted.
Each team of five can play as both attackers and defenders during a game. Each game has a total of 25 rounds, with the first team to win 13 rounds declared the winner
