Heroes (Dota 2)
The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.
Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
Vengeful Spirit: “Vengeance is my mistress.”
Shendelzare, the Vengeful Spirit, is an agility heroine from DotA and Dota 2. She is a ranged Radiant heroine. In the game, she can take the role of a support, a disabler, a lane support, and an initiator. Magic Missile is useful for briefly stunning and damaging enemy heroines and heroes, while Wave of Terror gives entire groups of enemies an armor buff. Through the passive ability Vengeance Aura, Vengeful Spirit grants itself and nearby allies a percentage damage bonus based on their damage. If an enemy hero kills Vengeful Spirit, they gain Vengeance Aura, but it replaces the damage bonus with a percentage malus until Vengeful Spirit lives again. Its Ultimate ability Nether Swap lets Vengeful Spirit swap positions with an enemy or allied hero without delay, as long as it is within a certain range. This allows Vengeful to save allies from death or plunge opposing heroes into a hopeless fight. With Aghanim’s Scepter, Nether Swap’s cooldown is reduced and also allows you to swap with Creeps. Additionally, with the Scepter, a Vengeance Illusion appears after her demise, weaker than herself, unable to cast any items but all of her abilities.
Vengeful Spirit- Hype
Vengeful Spirit’s presence is felt at all times, whether she is alive or dead. Able to swap positions with any nearby hero, stun enemies, and reduce her killer’s effectiveness if she falls, she constantly brings confusion and chaos to her foes.

“Even the most contented Skywrath is a grouchy creature who by nature – even at the slightest provocation – seeks revenge. But retribution is the essence of Vengeful Spirit. Once a proud and fierce Skywrath scion, Shendelzare was heir to the throne for Ghastly Eyrie until she was stripped of her birthright by the treachery of one of her sisters. After being caught in the web of an assassin, Shendelzare could only free herself by tearing off her wings and suffering the ultimate humiliation as she limped away on foot. She knew that the Skywrath would never accept her as ruler with broken wings; and her sister, who resided in the Eyrie’s highest bedchamber, was unreachable by wingless. Not wanting to live as a wingless cripple, and desiring revenge from the bottom of her heart, the fallen princess made a deal with the goddess Scree’auk: she surrendered her broken body and received an imperishable form of spiritual energy, driven by retribution, capable of causing massive damage on the material plane. She will probably remain wingless forever, but she will get her revenge.”
